Coach´s Knowledge: Objective to achieve
Week that we continue to work on the same contents, but now competing.
We Learn by Competing: Through different competitions offensive playing conditions are established and defensive, where both players must find correct strategies in how to introduce their hits within the delimited areas (shaded areas or full court).
* In all competitions, if a player approach to the net, the entire court is opened for both players and from there the free point is played until its completion.
Session
Thursday and Friday “Learning by Competing”
Coach resources in the Initial part of the “Warm-up”.
Perform an active warm-up:
Progressive increase of the intensity, traying to get good feelings.
Footwork and adjustments of the distance to the ball.
Effects: mainly topspin without forgetting «slice».
Others …
Monday
Coach resources in the main part of the session “We compete”.
Competitions:
Consistency playingfrom the baseline (deep play).
Develop the FH as a weapon (FH attacks vs. FH & BH defense).
Develop inside in/out FH as a weapon (FH attacks vs. FH & BH defensedefense).
Develop the BH as a weapon (BH attacks vs. FH & BH defense).
Tuesday:
Coach resources in the main part of the session “We compete”.
Competitions:
Playing with big margins.
Attack vs defense.
Wednesday:
Coach resources in the main part of the session “We compete”.
Competitions:
From a cross court FH rally, change direction (down the line).
Idem BH vs. BH.
Idem inside out FH vs BH.
Approaches to Net Game.
Coach resources in the final part of the session “Points or games”.
Points or mini competitions are played serving and semi defining the directions of the 1st Serve:
1st Serve and nextshots: Points with 2 or 3 services (2 first and 1 second); Serving width, to the “T” or body and subsequents shots.
Points with only one service (2nd service): Being offensive with the rest of the 2nd service and the following 2 background shots.
Serve points: Serve and volley / Return and volley.
Doubles points (or adapted).
