Goal of the activity
Speed is a complex ability that consists of making movements in the shortest possible time, whether they are moving or not, at a maximum execution rate and during a short period of time that does not cause fatigue It is conditioned by the muscular system as executor of movements and by the nervous system as receptor and transmitter of stimuli.
Planning of the session:
The planning corresponds entirely to the coach, although the player can or should propose exercises that also work the same objectives.

Organization and development:
Speed manifests itself in three fundamental ways: reaction speed, contractile speed, and travel speed. Reaction speed is the ability to produce a motor response to a stimulus in the shortest possible time, of which there are two types: the simple reaction time and the reaction time of choice (when the response to be produced must be chosen). Contractile speed is the ability of the muscles to contract and relax in the shortest possible time. Travel speed is the ability to travel the distance necessary to reach maximum speed in the shortest possible time. The selection of methods and resources to train speed is determined by the objectives to be achieved. Among the most frequent are:
- Decrease the reaction time to external signals.
- Increase maximum speed.
- Increase the time the maximum speed can be maintained
- Increase the periods of time that the maximum speed can be maintained in interval work.
- Increase the speed with which coordinated motor actions can be performed with maximum precision.
Coach’s task:
The coach proposes the activity to work and its function will depend on the methodology he wants to apply:
If coach uses traditional methods, his role will be direct command.
If other methods or discovery teachings are used, the role of the coach becomes more of an observer.
Player role:
