Free PreviewContents
Description:
The coach organizes the space according to the activity he wants to do and the number and level of his players.
Goal of the activity
The main objective of using the Coach Volley method on 1/2 court is to increase the intensity of the session and decrease time-wasting.
Planning of the session:
Defined by the coach

Organization and development:
The coach uses 1/2 court to use the Coach Volley method with 2 players (1 player trains – 1 player waits). On the other 1/2 court, 2 or 3 players perform hitting drills or specific tasks previously established by the coach (2 players hitting – 1 player waiting at the back fence, ready with a ball in hand, to play when a player makes a mistake or loses the point). And there is 1 player doing Fitness (on the side of the court). In the case of three players playing, there will always be one waiting, being able to position himself down the baseline or at the net post. Finally there is another player doing fitness activities.
Stations and Tasks for Players (or Groups of Players): “Group A” Coach Volley Drills (1 player trains – 1 player waits); “Group B” Fitness; “Group C” Down-the-line Hitting exercise previously proposed by the coach.
The players that are doing the Coach Volley drills do not have to pick up balls. All 3 Groups will pick up balls at the same time,
whenever coach has no balls remaining in the basket.
Variants: the Fitness Station can be eliminated, in this case there will be 4 players in “Group C” Hitting Drills (2 players Hitting and 2 players waiting at the back fences on each side, ready with a ball in hand); and 2 players in “Group A” performing Coach Volley drills (1 player trains – 1 player waits).
Coach’s task:
Control of all the Stations (whether on court drills and exercises or specific activities on the side of the court) and Control of the Duration between the stations, as well as general overseeing of the whole court area.
Coach’s Positioning: The coach has to take the position shown in the video, just behind the middle of the service line, behind the “T” (in between the service squares).
Player role:
The players take responsibility of performing at the highest possible intensity.
