Description:

The coach organizes games, points or “Games”, including activities focused on players learning and developing their competitive abilities based on creating game situations (isolated or not), where they can be practiced.

Goal of the activity

It is necessary to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere where players learn to compete, competing and following the values of the sport.

Planning of the session:

The planning of the session corresponds entirely to the coach, although the players should also propose different activities, where they enhance or improve their competitiveness.

Practical examples

Developing the Baseline Game by working “2 vs 1”.

“The Trio Game”:

Players: there is always 2 players competing against 1 player. The player that plays Solo can hit to the doubles alleys; the 2 opponents can not – they can only hit to the singles court. The idea of the game is to maintain the Solo position.
Initial Positions: there is 1 player competing and 2 players waiting at the back fence on one side; and 2 players competing and 1 player waiting at the back fence on the other side.
Start of the Game: The coach feeds the ball to any one of the players.
Change of Positions: If the player that is Solo wins the point – he/she keeps the position. One of the opponents that missed gets out and another player gets in as a substitute. If the player that is Solo loses the point – the opponent player that won the point exchanges positions with the Solo player that made the mistake. While the exchange of positions happens – the next “Trio” gets in to play.
SCORING: 3 different matches are played at 7 or 11 points. The player with the best score playing SOLO is the winner.

Variants; the couple can only hit with forehand, backhand, sliced backhand, if it bounces in the serve box, you have to go up to the net, if it bounces in the serve box, it is OUT…

Developing the baseline game “Grand Slam without coach”:

“Grand Slam with the players feeding the ball in play”:

Players: Every player plays individually. The players chose one of the Grnad Slam tournaments (Wimbledon, Roland Garros, Us Open or AUstralian Open).
Initial Positions: 2 players competing (1 on each baseline); 1 player feeding the ball in play at the net post; the rest of the players behind the player feeding.
Start of the Game: A player (or coach) feeds the ball to one of the two players located on both baselines (throw the ball with your hand “stone throw” style).
Change of Positions: The player that wins the point – keeps the position; the player that lost the point gets in line at the net post; the player that was feeding the ball last – gets in to play; the player that is next in line feeds the ball to the player that just got in. Scoring: every point is lik
Scoring: every point is like a match/round of a tournament. The first round is round of 32, next is round of 16, next is Quarter-finals, next is Semi-finals and lastly it is Final. If the player wins in the Final – he/she wins the torunament and choses the next tournament to be played. In case of losing in any round – the players start again from the first round (round of 32).

Learn to open the court “Grand Slam in Cross-court angle”.

“Grand Slam with the coach feeding the ball in play and the players have to hit a Cross-Court Angle”:

Same game, but now the player that gets in to play has to hit a cross-court angle shot and play out the point up to its termination.

Practical cases

In these competitive activities it is important that the player take care of the ball and maintain his playing position in order to participate as much as possible.

Variants can be carried out in all proposals

Variants: Depending on the proposed competitions, carry out the variants that the coach considers appropriate;

If it bounces in the service box it is OUT or on the opposite the player must go up to the net, force to play with sliced backhand…
